Thailand

I’m happy to be resuming ImmerseThrough trips in Northern Thailand and to again be collaborating on them with my friend Fern Somraks.

next tour

Postponed until January 2026

This year, in January 2025, we’ll be doing a little more traveling than on previous trips, and a less cooking.

My travel-agent partner Deb Olson can help you arrange your flights to Chiang Mai (email or call 307-745-7191), or you can do that independently.

the idea

We’re going to start in Chiang Mai, Thailand’s northern capital, with its storied history and many layers of culture, and its remarkable food markets, all presided over by Doi Sutep, the mountain that stands west of the city, like a watchful guardian.

Then we’ll head north to visit Mae Sai, at the northern tip of Thailand, before wending our way through the hills to Fern’s farm outside the town of Fang. We’ll spend time at Fang’s weekly Wednesday market, a trading node for the many different peoples who live in the region. And we’ll have a day cooking at the farm, preparing traditional Shan and northern Thai dishes in an airy outdoor space.

the details

We’ll be travelling in a large comfortable van. All accommodation, food, drink, and entry fees etc are included, so the only thing you'll need cash for is any presents you wish to buy for yourself or others.

In the meantime, please email or call (307-745-7191) Deb Olson for more information, or to join us in Thailand this fall.
